Going West Again

Written: 1974

Writers: David Jenneson, Alan Hovden, Peter Sinclair

Status: Recorded but unpublished

Genre and Style: Alt. Pop

Comments: Dave: Going West Again has a delta blues feel with a catchy guitar riff. Somewhat enigmatic, it tells the story of someone with an unhappy childhood and impacted personality unable to experience love but hoping for redemption.

Mama was a little mean

Daddy treated her like a queen

But I knew all the angles

I turned into the quiet kind

Turning locks inside my mind

But I knew all the angles

Thinking about it I’m not surprised

Finding no love in my eyes

Someday soon I might be going west again

Someday soon I might be going west again

When I was just eighteen

Life was hard, life was mean

But I knew all the angles

I found out just I knowed

Lost on all those damn back roads

But I knew all the angles

My body’s aching but that’s all right

I’m not breaking, I’ll tell you why

Someday soon I might be going west again

Someday soon I might be going west again
