Minimum Motion

Written: 1983

Writers: David Jenneson, Alan Hovden

Status: Recorded and published by Terry Jacks.

Genre and Style: Light pop rock

Comments: Dave: Minimum Motion tells the story of some poor wretch suffering under the spell of a cruel and controlling woman. With its unlikely title it is still a well crafted album cut.

Comments: Al: I always thought that this was the closest Terry Jacks came to nailing one of our songs. Cool arrangement Terry!

There’s two of us but our love goes one way

Two of us

You’re the one who can ruin us

With just a wave of your hand

You lift your finger I move a mile

For the two of us

To make you smile I go through enough

Till its all I can stand

You apply the minimum motion

You’ve got control of my every emotion

You sail me like a ship on the ocean

Caught in the wind

Where you blow, I bend

You apply the minimum motion

I do what you say but no words have been spoken

You play with me right out in the open

With minimum motion

You’ll do it again

Someday you’ll be the one who got away

From the two of us

I’ll hear you say you’re through with us

Like only you can.

You apply the minimum motion

You’ve got control of my every emotion

You sail me like a ship on the ocean

Caught in the wind

Where you blow, I bend

You apply the minimum motion

I do what you say but no words have been spoken

You play with me right out in the open

With minimum motion

You’ll do it again
